SPIRULINA CONSISTS OF MORE THAN 50% PROTEIN BY WEIGHT AND CONTAINS 9 BIOAVAILABLE VITAMINS AND 7 BIOAVAILABLE MINERALS.

With Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2 and Potassium.

Spirulina is a microscopic blue-green algae that grows in fresh water. It has a very fine spiral shape, hence its name, and is only a few tenths of a millimeter in length. It is one of the simplest and most primitive single-celled algae.Spirulina is found naturally in fresh-water lakes, particularly in Mexico, Japan, Thailand and some lakes in Africa.

Chemical Composition
Spirulina consists of 50 to 60% protein by weight depending on its origin. It has a higher protein content than soy (37%) or beef (20%),and contains 9 bioavailable vitamins (A, C, E, K, B1, B2, B3, B6 and folic acid) and 7 bioavailable minerals (Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Zinc Potassium and Sodium). This makes Spirulina behave like a low-calorie multivitamin and multimineral protein complex since 10 g contains only 29 calories (An apple contains 54 calories/100 g).

Main Ingredients

Each capsule contains:
Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis), algae …. 500 mg
Vitamin B1 ……………………………….... 0.14 mg

Uses
Due to its high protein and mucilage content, Spirulina creates a sensation of fullness, which is fundamental for any weight-loss program. The level of phenylalanine it contains could help curb one’s appetite.Various studies have shown that Spirulina helps reduce cholesterol levels. Its mechanism of action may be linked to the chlorophyll (0.8-1.5% of its dry weight), polyunsaturated fatty acids (2.08%), Vitamin B3 (0.12%) and various amino acids it contains, all acting in synergy.Spirulina helps boost physical performance since, as other studies show, it has the ability to reduce muscular damage and delay the onset of exhaustion during exercise. It is also useful as a supplement to strengthen the immune system due to the highly water-soluble polysaccharides it contains.Other studies exist showing that Spirulina has a significant effect on the metabolism of iron since it increases hemoglobin levels and can be used to combat anemia brought on by iron deficiency.
